In short. If you only use NAT64 *you need DNS64*, otherwise, there is no “automatic” synthesis of the A records into AAAA records so IPv6-only hosts or apps can access IPv4-only services on the other side. If the synthesis is not done, the NAT64 prefix will not be used, and consequently the NAT64 will not be used either.

 

With NAT64 and DNS64, literal addresses and old-APIs aren’t working. DNSSEC may be broken if validated by the end servers.

 

If your scenario is using 464XLAT, the DNS64 is optional (you do more translations on the CLAT but is not a big issue).

 

With 464XLAT literal addresses, old-APIs will work and DNSSEC has more chances to work (will worl always if you don’t use DNS64).

As far as I know NAT 64 to convert the IPv6 address to IPv4 address .

Still some point need to clear.

 

1. Is DNS64  will introduce the same concepts? as NAT64.

2. In NAT64 concept where  DNS64 fits .
